Ryan Christie
AFC Bournemouth's midfielder Ryan Christie (30) was a surprise absentee from the matchday squad in the Cherries’ 2-0 win over Brighton, but manager Andoni Iraola has confirmed that his issue is not serious.
Christie picked up a heavy knock in training just two days before the game, which left him struggling to move freely. Although he was able to train on the eve of the match, Iraola explained that the Scottish international was still limping and it made little sense to take unnecessary risks so early in the season.
🎙️| Andoni Iraola: “Ryan Christie probably is the one that I feel more confident that he will be ready next week. He had a big knock two days ago. He could train, but he was limping and it didn't make any sense to take risks.”
The Bournemouth boss remains optimistic that Christie will recover in time to face Newcastle United next weekend, describing his absence against Brighton as precautionary rather than indicative of a longer-term problem. (Source: Alexander Smith, Bournemouth Echo)
