Adam Smith - concussion
Bournemouth defender Adam Smith (34) has been diagnosed with a concussion after a heavy collision with teammate Tyler Adams during the opening minutes of Bournemouth’s 4–0 defeat to Aston Villa. The incident caused a lengthy stoppage as both players received medical attention, with Smith suffering visible bleeding and ultimately being forced off the pitch.
Manager Andoni Iraola confirmed post-match that Smith appeared to be recovering well, saying the defender was alert, communicative, and remembered the incident clearly. Despite the reassuring signs, Iraola stressed that the decision to substitute Smith was made due to the concussion rather than the bleeding, and the club will monitor him closely as concussion protocols require.
Iraola added that early indications are positive, but Bournemouth will “have to wait” for further medical evaluation to determine the full extent of the injury. (Source: Bournemouth Daily Echo)
