Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt (26) has been sidelined since early December 2025 due to a minor, unspecified injury picked up during training. This issue forced him to miss United's 1-1 Premier League draw against West Ham United on December 4 and their subsequent 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 8, 2025. Initially, manager Rúben Amorim described it as a "small thing" and expressed optimism that De Ligt could return for the Wolves match, but he ultimately remained absent. As of December 10, 2025, there is no confirmed return date.
