Matty Cash
Aston Villa defender Matty Cash (28) suffered a significant knock during Poland’s recent 3–1 World Cup qualifying win over Finland, forcing him off at half-time and raising concerns over his availability for Aston Villa in the coming matches.
According to Poland manager Jan Urban, Cash endured a knee strike to the quadriceps, a forceful contact that resulted in a severe muscle bruise. Despite being in pain, Cash initially tried to continue playing, but Urban—and the medical staff—decided to withdraw him at half-time to prevent further damage.
The coach emphasized that this was a prudent call:
"I personally convinced him to make a substitution... I substituted him at half-time, and I think it was a good decision, both mine and his, as he agreed to be substituted and wasn’t stubborn about continuing to play."
There is currently no detailed update on the expected recovery timeline. Another source mentions initial assessments suggest it may be a "dead leg", but further scans are needed to determine the full extent of the injury. (Source: Birmingham Live)
