Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa (27) was shown a straight red card in the Premier League season opener against Newcastle United, issued in the 66th minute for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity with a last-man tackle on Anthony Gordon.

This dismissal triggered an automatic one-match suspension, as the offense was classified as a DOGSO (Denial of an Obvious Goal-Scoring Opportunity), not as violent conduct. As a result, Konsa is set to miss the next fixture, away at Brentford on 23 August.
