Tommy Watson

Brighton & Hove Albion forward Tommy Watson (19) has been working his way back from an injury that sidelined him throughout pre-season. The £10m summer signing from Sunderland was unavailable for the Seagulls’ opening-day 1-1 draw against Fulham, but head coach Fabian Hürzeler has now confirmed that the teenager is in full training.

Hürzeler described Watson’s situation as an “adaptation process,” with the youngster still building fitness and adjusting to the demands of Premier League football. While Sunday’s trip to Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium came too soon, Wednesday’s League Cup clash with Oxford United could provide a more realistic opportunity for his first Brighton appearance.

The German coach stressed the importance of Watson completing a full training week without setbacks, adding that his debut is close. (Source: Sussex World)
