West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek (30) was shown a straight red card following his tackle on João Palhinha. The incident occurred in the second half when Soucek lunged in to win the ball, but his challenge caught the Fulham midfielder late. Referee’s decision to dismiss Soucek immediately drew strong reactions from both sets of players, with West Ham arguing that the challenge was mistimed rather than malicious.
