Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Drăgușin (23) is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing successful surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee.

The Romanian international sustained the injury during Spurs' 3-0 Europa League victory over Elfsborg on 30 January 2025. Drăgușin came on as a substitute at half-time but was forced off just 21 minutes later after landing awkwardly in a challenge. (Source: Sky Sports)

Following the match, manager Ange Postecoglou expressed concern over the severity of the injury in his post-match press conference, stating:

"Unfortunately, Radu's hurt his knee now. I don't have any further information, but it didn't look good as he was coming off, so we'll just have to wait and see, but it's disappointing." (Source: Tottenham Hotspur)

On 4 February 2025, the club confirmed that Drăgușin had suffered a torn ACL and would undergo surgery, ruling him out for the remainder of the season. The procedure was successfully performed on 11 February. (Source: Jack Pitt-Brooke, The Athletic)

ACL injuries typically require a recovery period of six to nine months, depending on the player’s response to rehabilitation. Drăgușin will now begin a lengthy recovery process, which will involve physiotherapy, strength conditioning, and a gradual reintroduction to training.

Tottenham will take a cautious approach to avoid the risk of recurrence. Barring setbacks, the Romanian defender is targeting a return to full training in late 2025, with a potential competitive comeback around November or December. (Source: BBC Sport)

🎙️|Thomas Frank: "He played his first 45 minutes in nine months, something like that, last Wednesday, very happy with that. He trained fully today. He's definitely getting very close to being able to be selected, it's just a matter of performance and probably just a few more game minutes to be fully available. (Source: Tottenham Hotspur)
