Manager Eddie Howe described the incident as “a very difficult time for us,” noting the seriousness of any head-related injury.
According to Howe, Pope does not remember much about the collision. Initially, the medical staff had not confirmed a concussion, but Newcastle later received word that the goalkeeper “wasn’t feeling too well” and needed to be substituted immediately (Source: The Sports Bank).
