Alexis Mac Allister - lingering fitness issue

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has recently provided a positive update on his return to fitness after a prolonged period out of action.

Mac Allister has rejoined full-team training during Liverpool’s pre‑season tour in Tokyo. After missing the final two matches of the 2024–25 season due to a lingering fitness issue, he spent much of the summer working through a rehabilitation programme separate from the squad.

The midfielder described the past few months as “a long time, a difficult time,” explaining that it stemmed from multiple niggles across different areas rather than a single focal injury. He and the medical team worked extensively on his structure in the gym before resolving the issue

Asked if he expects to be available for selection by head coach Arne Slot when the new season begins next month, Mac Allister replied: “Yeah, hopefully. That’s the idea.

“As I said, I need to work on my physical shape and get used again to the level of the boys.

“But I’m feeling really, really good, training with the team and I’m pretty sure I’m going to be fine for the beginning of the season and hopefully for the [Community Shield] as well.” (Source: Liverpool)
